If your vehicle must be left on the side of the road or unattended in a parking lot or on someone’s private property, you are responsible for all tow and storage fees should law enforcement, at the request of the property owner/manager, call us for a tow.
While the following recommendations are not a guarantee you will not be towed, they may be a deterrent in some cases:
Place a large sign in your front or back window stating the time you left your vehicle and the time you are going to be back to collect it - preferably no more than twelve hours. Otherwise, neither law enforcement nor the property owner/manager may have any idea when the vehicle was abandoned.
Do NOT park in front of any driveway, corner of a turn, or over the top of a hill. This is considered obstructing traffic. Be sure your vehicle is completely and totally off of the road. Any little part sticking out is considered to be a hazard.
EVEN IF you have received permission from one manager of a parking lot/property, be back before the shift change! The next shift may call law enforcement to have apparent abandoned vehicles towed. And, they are not responsible for or bound by another manager’s alleged permission. Vehicles left overnight may be considered abandoned and may be towed.
Do not block anything anywhere! This includes, but is not limited to:
Air hoses, pumps, docks, and more! Do not obstruct business!
